Early on a summer morning the sea mist has not yet cleared, a great time of day to take a bracing stroll along the West Pier!
A MAJOR scheme to repair Whitby's crumbling piers and protect the harbour was unveiled early in 2009.
The £20-25m scheme could see rock armour used to shore up the piers and a possible new sea wall on the main west pier, with the possible use of a 'wave return wall' along the crest of the west pier as an alternative to rock armour.
Which ever solution is implemented, it seems this view will change in the near future.
